Saturday 25 September

Monthly Arts and Crafts Market

We’ll be hosting our September Arts and Crafts Market on Saturday 25 from 09:30 to 13:30.  The cafe (and bar) will be open.  We don’t get exactly the same stalls every time but most of your favourites will be there – and a couple of new ones!

Charity Afternoon Tea

We intend to hold an Afternoon Tea after every Saturday Market so that we can give local charities a bit of support.  This month, Ann Evans and her team from The Donna Louise Trust will host the Afternoon Tea.  There’ll be lots of home-made cakes and stuff so come and enjoy  tea, coffee, and cakes in a COVID-safe environment.  So that they keep all their profits, the HVH Management Committee has decided to waive hire charges for these events.  So if you know a local charity that would like to host an Afternoon Tea after our Monthly Arts and Crafts Market, give them my details and we’ll try to get them in the calendar.  The Afternoon Tea will run from 14:30 to 17:00.

German Theme Pop-Up Pub

Our Pop-Up Pubs really are the talk of the village!  We’re going with a German theme this month because we’re in Oktoberfest season.  It’ll be open from 17:00 to 21:00.  We have a selection of German and Staffordshire lagers from ABK, Freedom, and Lymestone as well as our usual selection of beers, ciders, and wines.  We’ve even managed to get some very reasonable German wine – a Mainzer Domherr from the Rheinhessen, a region that has been cultivating grapes since the ancient Roman occupation.

Bratwurst hot dogs with authentic German Swabian-style potato salad will be served, and if you twist Barbara’s arm, she’ll surely be able to rustle up a filled home-made oatcake or two!

Thursday Cafe and Fresh Produce Market

The cafe and market were open today and we ran out of oatcakes!  Why not come down for a full English breakfast or be daring and make it a Brunch!  We’re open every Thursday from 09:30 to 12:30.  You can get fresh fruit and vegetables, bread and cakes, meat products, dairy, and home-made ready meals from our market stalls.
